YouTube blacklists PragerU educational videos

YouTube claims it doesn’t censor anyone, yet it “has placed 21 PragerU videos on ‘restricted mode’, a category meant for inappropriate and objectionable adult and sexual content.”

Prager University creates short videos, most are about 5 minutes long, on various subjects of interest, mainly on economic theory, politics and history. These videos often are intended to correct popular misconceptions about America’s founding.  None contain any sexual content unless asking “Why don’t feminists fight for Muslim women?” to be sexual.

The real objection that YouTube (owned by Google) has is that the PragerU videos expose too much truth and are therefore in direct contradiction to the liberal misinformation spread throughout America by the Left in the last 50 years. The Left always and everywhere wants to retrict the speech of anyone who disagrees with what it wants America to believe.

YouTube and its parent Google are solid Leftist, using algorithms on its websites to restrict and sequester the counter arguments of dissenters. Like all Leftists, facts contrary to the narrative they want to tell are deemed “inappropriate and objectionable.”

The hallmark of Leftism is to block other viewpoints, never to debate them. The reason is simple. Subjecting their arguments and narratives to public scrutiny in the form of actual debates would be dangerous. They might (probably would) lose the debate, so the response to counterarguments is always, “Just shut up!” Submitting to dissent and argument might upset their goal of a “fundamental transformation” of America.

PragerU is anathema to the Left because it is exposing too many Leftist narratives as false and often silly as well. Sunlight is the best disinfectant to cure the contagious mental disease of Leftism.

The College Fix:

PragerU stands for Prager University. Its four- to five-minute videos promote Judeo-Christian values and principles and are ideal for young people as they distill complex issues into concise bullet points with stimulating graphics.

“We’ve worked quietly behind the scenes for months to resolve this, but YouTube’s censorship continues, leaving us with no option but to go public,” PragerU announcedTuesday on its Facebook page.

YouTube is owned by Google, and PragerU states on its website that “in response to an official complaint we filed, Google specialists defended their restriction of our videos, and said, ‘We don’t censor anyone,’ although they do ‘take into consideration what the intent of the video is’ and ‘what the focus of the video is.’”

“There is no excuse for Google and YouTube censoring and restricting any PragerU videos, which are produced with the sole intent of educating people of all ages about America’s founding values,” the conservative nonprofit states on its website.

The videos feature “the best ideas from the best minds and distill them down to five focused minutes,” according to the group, which was founded by conservative scholar and radio show host Dennis Prager.

See the piece at The College Fix for a complete listing of the 21 videos YouTube considers “inappropriate and objectionable.”
