Paul Ryan got Trump to sign the Omnibus Spending Bill in March, 2018 with a promise that he would later get the wall he had promised his voters. The wall is very likely the main campaign issue Trump was elected on. Trump didn’t like the Omnibus Spending Bill, and most of his supporters didn’t either. I remember scratching my head trying to figure out why he signed it. Now we know he reluctantly signed it because of Paul Ryan’s promise.
So why didn’t the Omnibus Spending Bill of 2018 (officially known as H.R.1625 – Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2018) itself contain funding for the building of a border wall? All sorts of reasons may have been given, but they are all B.S. The real reason, the only reason, the most telling reason, is that the GOP does not want a wall.
They want the money they get from donors who don’t want a wall. The donors are affiliated with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. They have a single focus in their support for keeping immigration, even illegal immigration, just the way it is: cheap labor.
The big wigs in the GOP have an unholy alliance with Nancy and Chuck.
You’ve heard that the two parties are loosely characterized as the dangerous party (Democrats) and the stupid party (Republicans). Nothing justifies calling the GOP the stupid party more than the GOP’s stance on immigration, even illegal immigration, to help the Chamber of Commerce and thereby guarantee the money flow of campaign contributions.
It’s stupid because the Democrats have an ever stronger need for immigration, including illegals. The GOP may be getting campaign contributions but the Democrats are getting voters. These are illegal voters for sure, but if no one is willing to do anything about it, the illegal voting works great for Democrats. That is exactly how they stole the election in Orange County, California last November. I believe it’s how they converted Colorado into a solid blue state.
The GOP is indeed the stupid party. They are too stupid to see that money from their donors cannot help them if the main problem is not just illegal immigration, but illegal voting on a massive scale.
Democrats can raise more money from their donors because the Dems are now the party of the super rich. The money is nice for the Dems, but it’s the voting block they get from immigration that will bring about the extinction of the GOP.
That’s why Paul Ryan reneged on his promise to get the wall for trump. That’s why Trump didn’t get the wall while the GOP controlled both the Senate and the House. Ironically, he may stand a better chance of getting the wall now that the GOP has lost the House. He has stronger reasons to declare a national emergency at the border because of the intransigence of the Democrats. When it was his own party preventing him from building the wall, he would have been on shaky ground declaring a national emergency.
Here is Trump’s explanation of what happened:
“Well, I was going to veto the omnibus bill and Paul told me in the strongest of language, ‘Please don’t do that, we’ll get you the wall.’ And I said, ‘I hope you mean that, because I don’t like this bill,’” the president recounted in an exclusive Wednesday interview with The Daily Caller.
“Paul told me in the strongest of terms that, ‘please sign this and if you sign this we will get you that wall.’ Which is desperately needed by our country. Humanitarian crisis, trafficking, drugs, you know, everything — people, criminals, gangs, so, you know, we need the wall.”
“And then he went lame duck,” Trump said.
“And once he went lame duck, it was just really an exercise in waving to people and the power was gone so I was very disappointed. I was very disappointed in Paul because the wall was so desperately needed. And I’ll get the wall.”
When asked by the Daily Caller if Paul Ryan lied to him, Trump was not willing to go there. He said he didn’t think Ryan lied, he probably meant what he said at the time.
Trump is being charitable to Ryan who doesn’t deserve it. Ryan is as much a snake as the rest of the GOP who pray at the altar of cheap labor.
Trump’s probably boiling inside at the dirty rat finks in the GOP who sabotaged the wall when they controlled both houses. But he probably also realizes that it’s harder to win when you’re fighting on two fronts. That’s probably why he doesn’t want to get into a brawl with his own party while he is working on a defeat for Nancy and Chuck.
