University of Wyoming takes the Leftist plunge into hatred

This is a repost from December 15, 2017. We can hope what is written below has been changed and hatred of conservatives has new thinking. But, honestly, it just doesn’t happen. The Left wants the Right to shut up. The Right wants the Left to keep talking. By their own words and actions they keep telling us and the world who and what they are.

Wyoming used to be one of most red of the red states. That is, except for Jackson which likes to think of itself as a suburban community of San Francisco.

Laramie has always been a ranch town that also hosted the State’s university. For a while that seemed to keep the leftist swarm at bay. That’s changed and UW is going, if not already gone, into the darkness of left-wing politics that hates anyone who dares to offer a dissenting opinion against leftist dogma.

Conservative student group denied funding given to all other student groups:

A conservative group at the University of Wyoming was recently barred from requesting student government funding until 2019 after hosting conservative pundit Dennis Prager.

The school’s Turning Point USA (TPUSA) chapter brought Prager to campus for a November 9 discussion on why “socialism makes people selfish,” drawing a crowd of 600 people.

On November 28, the Associated Students of the University of Wyoming (ASUW) announced the financial sanctions against the club, ruling that it had violated three statutes of the ASUW Finance Policy.

What were the three “violations?”

  1. ASUW charged the group with failing to mark all promotional materials for the Prager event with the ASUW logo;
  2. Neglecting to “distribute tickets at a campus based venue for students;” and
  3. Declining to “utilize digital scanners for student IDs.

This appears on its face to be the sort of choreographed temper tantrum which has sadly become typical in Academia.

TPUSA says all the charges are bogus and are lodged solely for the purpose of stifling the speech of Dennis Prager because he’s a conservative. For example, while it’s true that many of the posters advertising the event lacked the ASUW logo that was because the posters kept getting torn down and the haste with which they had to be replaced.

This points out one of the main differences between liberal and conservative student groups. The liberals tear down the conservatives’ posters. No one has ever claimed that conservatives students tear down the liberals’ posters. Conservatives everywhere are better behaved than liberals. That would seem to verify Prager’s topic, that socialism makes people selfish, and we might add that it turns them into hooligans.

TPUSA claims the people in charge of student fees see mainstream conservative opinions as “hate speech.”  Wyoming is a state school. Every student pays an annual fee of $672 in addition to tuition. It is from student fees that student groups are funded. To deny a student group the same privileges given to liberal groups is to deny equal treatment on campus.  Liberals never tire of lecturing us on “Inequality.”  We see from this and multiple other examples that it’s all just disingenuous, duplicitous virtue signaling.

The solution to this is clear. Every student who joins TPUSA should be exempt from payment of student fees.  It would be the ultimate fix of everything that presently ails the University of Wyoming. All the socialist students on campus would instantly become members of TPUSA.

UPDATE: A commenter at Instapundit recommends using Alinsky’s Rules for Radicals against these leftists, the Alinsky rule he is thinking of must be:

  • RULE 13: “Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it.” Cut off the support network and isolate the target from sympathy. Go after people and not institutions; people hurt faster than institutions.

UPDATE: The executive staff below is as of December 15, 2017. It’s make up could have changed. Not that it matters. You can be sure they haven’t allowed anyone suspected of conservative thinking or  [gasp!] disagreeing with them on anything at all to become a member of their staff.

Alinsky’s Rule 4 also applies:

  • RULE 4: “Make the enemy live up to its own book of rules.” You can kill them with this because no one [insert leftists here] can possibly obey all of their own rules.
