Trump gave a 2-hour stem winder to a packed and adoring CPAC at the Potomac Ballroom of the Gaylord Hotel Friday. He took on the fake news media when Washington Post’s Dave Weigel tweeted a photo of a Trump rally showing empty seats. The photo was taken hours before the event began. You’d think self-respecting “journalists” would hesitate before attempting sophomoric capers like this, especially when they are so easily detected and exposed. You must be free of a conscience to engage is that sort of cheap shot.
Trump will stop the money train to those who use it to corrupt their institutions.
The house erupted when Trump said this:
“Today I’m proud to announce that I will be very soon signing an executive order requiring colleges and universities to support free speech if they want federal research dollars. If they want our dollars, and we give it to them by the billions, they’ve got to allow people like Hayden [Williams] and many other great young people and old people to speak. Free speech. If they don’t, it will be costly. That will be signed soon.”
Hayden Williams is the conservative kid that was sucker punched by Zachary Greenberg on the UC Berkeley Campus on February 23rd. Greenberg has been arrested on a felony assault warrant.
Requiring colleges and universities that receive federal money to comply with the Constitution is long overdue. They may not violate the First Amendment guarantee of freedom of speech and take government money at the same time. They’ve been expelling students in their kangaroo courts for speaking contrary to the dictates of campus speech codes for way too long.
Colleges seem to spend more time policing speech that education students. Education has in fact been mostly replaced by left-wing politics on many (most?) colleges and universities.
In a previous post I referred to Eisenhower’s 1961 farewell speech in which he warned that federal money would corrupt science. That’s also why we are now getting a so-called 97% scientific consensus on climate change. The Federal government is paying for what certain factions of scientists are selling.
It’s welcome news that the Federal government will stop paying for left-wing politics at institutions of “higher learning.”
Money may not be the root of all evil, but money sure does foster corruption, or at least has the power to do so whenever and wherever people lack the willpower and honesty to resist it.
I hope Trump will stop the money train if colleges and universities don’t get rid of their campus goon-squads such as the Antifa thugs and solo hoodlums like Zachary Greenberg. To Colleges and Universities: Get rid of your goons or we’ll get rid of your Federal money!
