A Brief History of the Redneck by Joe Bob Briggs at Taki-Magazine.
This is a history of people like me…and my mother in law.
Read the whole thing, it’s fun and you might identify! You will certainly learn some pretty good history of the Scots-Irish, a part of Scotland, NW England, Ulster, and a big part of America.
What it left out is largely unimportant except that the Scots-Irish are famously known not just for their willingness to fight all enemies but for a lot of soldiering heroism. They include World War I hero Alvin York, World War II most decorated soldier Audie Murphy, General George Patton, former Senator James Webb (Born Fighting — How the Scots-Irish Shaped America), Ronald Reagan a/k/a Renauldus Magnus, and a lot of other soldiers, cavalrymen and cowboys that shaped the American West in the 19th Century.
