Don’t let shut down orders rob you of your precious liberty

“Emergencies have always been the pretext on which the safeguards of individual liberty have been eroded.” — Frederic Hayek.

Shut down and/or shelter in place orders are now the pretext for much erosion of our liberty, including the right to travel. People have to find ways to evade government attempts to enslave us. In order to exercise their First Amendment right to worship they might need to disguise their church as an abortion clinic so that the government will leave them alone.

The public might agree with these orders at first, but over time, and not a very long time at that, people begin to hate these orders while the politicians start to like them too much. Soon the pols look for specious ways to justify extending the orders  beyond the original intent. They find such orders to be a handy tool for regulating our lives in ways having little or nothing to do with the original purpose.

Michigan governor Gretchen Whitmer is the load star example of such overreach and heavy handedness. New York Governor Andrew Cuomo showed the world how dumb a politician can be when he ordered nursing homes to accept Corona virus infected patients, which resulted in several deaths among the residents.  Most of what Governor Whitmer is doing right now is an audition for the Democrat vice-president slot.  So what does this have to do with the Corona virus? Nothing, absolutely nothing. It’s all just corruption and incompetence disguised as compassion.

The example of decency, honesty and compassion we can look to is South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem. She never ordered shut down but instead implored people to adopt such practices as social distancing, the wearing of masks when appropriate, avoiding crowds, washing their hands before touching their face. Governor Noem showed herself to be a compassionate leader while other governors around the country slowly became overbearing Goliaths. What was the result? South Dakota has faired well, as good or better than other states in which the people were enchained by governors acting more with malice than good will.

People do find ways to combat attempts to abolish civil liberties. They understand that shut down orders do not have the power or the right to infringe on the U.S. Constitution. Attorney General William Barr appears to be on the side of the people. Governors such as Whitmer may soon feel the sting of the U.S. Justice Department for their deception and despicable actions.

Whew, just think of the imbroglio approaching enslavement we’d be in if Eric Holder were still the head of the Department of Justice.

Let Freedom Ring!

UPDATE: The wonderful an inestimable Candace Owens has been banned from Twitter where she has 2.2 million followers. Here is the tweet for which she has been banned. This is another of many instances where the Left simply wants us to shut up because they are incapable of intelligent debate. Here is the tweet for which Candace was banned by the Twits at Twitter:
