Despite constant vilification by the media, Trump approval same as Obama’s at end of first year

A Rasmussen poll released on Thursday revealed that President Trump has a 46 percent approval rating and a 53 percent disapproval rating, while Obama had a 47 percent approval rating and a 52 percent disapproval rating at the end of his first year.

Do you see what is remarkable about this? Obama had nothing but fawning, almost sickening, praise and adoration from all Democrats, some Republicans, and the liberal media (nearly all of the media). Obama was hoisted to messiah status.

Trump has been viciously excoriated by the media, all Democrats, and a lot of Republicans. Jimmy Kimmel has made a career of bashing Trump relentlessly. Yet, he has an approval rating just one point lower than Obama’s at the end of his first year. He’s amazing.

The Russia “dossier” hoax hasn’t hurt Trump and as it becomes clear to more people that the whole thing is a hoax, that Mueller has nothing and is on a witch hunt like America hasn’t seen since 1690 in Boston, it’s likely that Trump’s approval will increase. Even now only the most dogmatic believers still think Trump engaged in the salacious acts depicted in the infamous “dossier.” Moreover, Trump’s foreign policy achievements are sufficiently anti-Russian so that only a complete fool still believes Trump is Putin’s Manchurian candidate.

Roger Kimball cites Michael Barone’s column this past Thursday, Taking Trump Seriously, as a turning point in the broader public reception of President Trump’s initiatives.
