Breitbart reports that Democrat congressional leaders are uniting around their last, best hope for salvaging ObamaCare.
Although they don’t have 60 votes in the Senate anymore and Scott Brown has promised to vote against it the Democrat leaders say they will pass the Senate version with changes to accommodate the House. How they think they can do that without picking off a Republican to vote with them they didn’t say.
Nevertheless, Illinois Senator Dick Durbin says:
“We’ve put so much effort into this, so much hard work, and we were so close to doing some significant things. Now we have to find the political path that brings us out. And it’s not easy.”
This reminds me of my post from last December 15th, Why Are Democrats Committing Suicide?
Especially this part:
[An un-named Democrat strategist speaking to Byron York]…compared congressional Democrats with robbers who have passed the point of no return in deciding to hold up a bank. Whatever they do, they’re guilty of something. “They’re in the bank, they’ve got their guns out. They can run outside with no money, or they can stick it out, go through the gunfight, and [maybe] get away with the money.”
Great metaphor. Apt.
