Cato: Freedom in the 50 States

Cato Institute has published its report on Freedom in the 50 States. It compares all 50 states and ranks them based on the level of personal and economic freedom enjoyed by resident of that state.

The five most free states are New Hampshire, Alaska, Oklahoma, Indiana, and South Dakota. The five least free states are Maryland, New Jersey, Hawaii, California and New York. South Dakota is ranked number one as the most free state and New York is number 50 as the state that most hectors it citizens over the most trivial of things and torments them endlessly for seeking to be left alone to live a life of prosperity and happiness.
