Random Wisdom

From Random Thoughts by Thomas Sowell:

One of the big differences between Democrats and Republicans is that we at least know what the Democrats stand for, whether we agree with it or not. But, for Republicans, we have to guess.

If politics were like sports, we could ask Israel to trade us Benjamin Netanyahu for Barack Obama. Of course, we would have to throw in trillions of dollars to get Israel to agree to the deal, but it would be money well spent.

I look forward to Dr. Sowell’s “Random Thoughts” column and I’m never disappointed. I wish he would write them more often.

Why does Sowell state that Obama is “virtually impeachment-proof?”

Because he’s black. Republicans will never impeach him for the same reason they are reluctant to criticize his disastrous our policies. They are scared to death of being called racists. Obama is trying to goad Republicans to impeach him because he thinks he would have the public on his side if Republicans try to impeach “the first black president.” Meanwhile, Republicans are shouting in the wilderness that they are not going to impeach Obama. The media ignores that and claims that Republicans are going to impeach Obama.

I agree that fear of the racism charge is very real. I think the other reality is that the Clinton impeachment proved that no matter how solid your grounds are, impeachment is a loser unless the general public wants it, and the general public isn’t going to want an impeachment unless the MSM leads the charge. The MSM is stays solidly behind 0, no matter how poor his performance.

I’ll add that the Republican Party feels pretty good about the upcoming mid-terms. They don’t want to build sympathy for the Dems, when the Senate looks very, very winnable.

Agree on your assessment of impeachment. It’s not a legal process, it’s a political process.

The House of Representatives (the people’s House) will pass articles of impeachment when they believe the people want them to. The definition of when “high crimes and misdemeanors” have been committed is when the people no longer trust the man in the oval office to wield the powers of the President of the United States.
