Obama’s war on the middle class

Under Obama only the richest 10% saw their incomes rise. Under President Obama, the richest 10 percent were the only income group of Americans to see their median incomes rise, according to a survey released this week by the Federal Reserve.

The Fed data covered the years 2010-2013, during which period Mr. Obama constantly campaigned against income inequality and won re-election by painting his Republican rival as a tool of Wall Street plutocrats

“Data from the 2013 [Survey of Consumer Finances] confirm that the shares of income and wealth held by affluent families are at modern historically high levels,” the report said in noting that the median income fell for every 10-percent grouping except the most affluent 10 percent.

“The 2013 SCF reveals substantial disparities in the evolution of income and net worth since the previous time the survey was conducted, in 2010,” the report stated. The SCF is conducted by the Federal reserve triennially and compiles information about family incomes, credit use, net worth and finances.

Obama and the Democrats [Debbie Wasserman Schultz] invented the phony “War On Women” meme to pound Republicans. The Republicans could, if they had a backbone, respond with a more authentic and honest charge against the Democrats’ “War On The Middle Class.”

Good background reading for understanding the war on the middle class that Obama is pursuing include Fred Siegel’s The Revolt Against the Masses — How Liberalism has undermined the middle class; Joel Kotkin’s The New Class Conflict; and Ronald Pestritto’s Woodrow Wilson and the Roots of Modern Liberalism.

Obama didn’t invent the war on the middle class, he’s just the current general in charge of waging it.

The possible explanations for elitist contempt for the masses, i.e., the middle class, include: they just don’t like the American people, they don’t like America, they think America was founded by evil rich slave holders (Obama’s view), the think America was founded by rich men seeking economic exploitation [Charles and Mary Beard thesis], they don’t like the U.S.Constitution [Woodrow Wilson’s mindset with which Obama agrees wholeheartedly], they think of the middle class as the “great unwashed”, they think the middle class are stupid and ignorant, or just about any other expression of their disgust along the same lines.  This animus toward the middle class stems from their vision of themselves as the smart, sophisticated and well-bred class and everyone else as the gumbo and nascar class.

As for Obama’s personal motives, we know he dislikes America and its Constitution, that much is perfectly obvious. He is the least patriotic president in our history. But there can be disagreement over whether his conduct of the war on the middle class is intentional, or does he really not know what his polices have wrought.

Occam’s Razor counsels not to attribute to vile intentions that which can just as easily be explained by incompetence, ignorance and stupidity.
