Dudley Brown and his National Association for Gun Rights (NAGR) are either the most aggressive gun rights advocacy group in America, or a false flag operation out to destroy all gun rights advocacy organizations. Mr. Brown’s positions are extreme and his criticisms of other gun rights groups and anti-gun politicians is caustic, almost abusive. NAGR has a sparse to zero record of winning any political struggles for gun owners. Of the many gun rights victories to the credit of such organizations as the NRA, the Second Amendment Foundation (SAF) or the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms (CCRKBA), the NAGR is no where to be found in the list. It seems that all Mr. Brown has accomplished is to give gun control advocates ammunition with which to try to discredit all gun groups. To put it mildly, that has not been helpful.
Now the SAF and CCRKBA have had enough of Dudley Brown’s interference and damage to the cause of freedom and have gone on a campaign to expose and discredit him and his harmful antics. Alan Gotlieb has issued a press release titled, “Dudley Brown’s Despicable Deception:”
Dudley Brown and his “National Association for Gun Rights” (NAGR) have built a reputation by attacking every other major gun rights organization and even pro-gun politicians, to the detriment of the gun rights movement. His rhetoric has done more to marginalize Second Amendment activism than all of the slanders from gun prohibition lobbying groups combined. Now Dudley has spewed his venom toward Alan Gottlieb, a true champion of Second Amendment advocacy with a proven track record of accomplishment. Gottlieb is founder and executive vice president of the Second Amendment Foundation (SAF), and chairman of the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms (CCRKBA).
In his latest effort to raise money for his own self-aggrandizement, Dudley Brown has launched a vicious canard against Alan Gottlieb, accusing the veteran gun rights advocate of “Leading the fight for national gun registration.”
Alan Gottlieb has never advocated for gun registration in his life. His legislative efforts have been to prevent that, and Dudley knows it.
Sean Tonner, deputy chief of staff for former Republican Colorado Gov. Bill Owens, was quoted by The Denver Magazine, asserting, “All Dudley wanted to do was create controversy. He makes his money when there’s turmoil, real or perceived, because that’s what gets his members to write him checks.”

Alan Gotlieb and his lawyer Alan Gura almost single-handedly saved American gun owners from having their rights stripped away by politicians hell bent on disarming America and creating a national people-hunting license for criminals. The Supreme Court ruling upholding the Second Amendment as an individual right and the subsequent case applying the Second Amendment to the states were both tried and argued by Alan Gura. With financial backing from SAF and CCRKBA, Mr. Gura has established numerous legal precedents in Federal and State courts favorable to gun owners. The NRA fights tirelessly in Federal Courts, Congress and State legislatures to protect gun owners from the depredations of anti-gun politicians. Its victories and successes in those arenas are legion.
Dudley Brown has never done more than raise hell with the very organizations working the hardest to get positive results. It’s time someone took him on and showed the rest of the Country that Dudley Brown doesn’t speak for the majority of gun owners.
