Comment on Romney Gives Ample Demonstration Today Why He Is the Wrong Horse for Republicans to Run Against Obama by TeeJaw

Maybe they don’t understand how starting a business qualifies one to be president of the United States. Plenty of liberals are successful in business. They’re still liberals and to the conservative way of thinking they would be terrible presidents. Conservatives are the majority of the Republican party, so it should not be surprising that they want a principled conservative to be the Republican nominee. Romney is not a conservative. He’s a dissembler and a phony. If he gets the nomination conservatives will vote for him to stop Obama. But it will make them sick to have to do it.

You might also re-read what I said above about Romney as “a successful business man.” Maybe the anti-Romney crowd don’t want a president with such a woeful understanding of economic principles.

Romney compounded the problem today by saying he also supports automatic increases in the minimum wage showing that he also doesn’t understand the harm that the minimum wage does to unskilled workers with no previous work experience. How many others basic concepts is this man confused about? He just keeps reaffirming people’s belief that his is not a conservative and doesn’t understand the first thing about conservative philosophy. Yet he wants us to believe he is a conservative. Conservatives don’t believe that and they don’t rust him.

“Businessman" is not a qualification for president that has a good track recored. Jimmy Carter and Herbert Hoover were the only two successful businessmen Presidents in the 20th century and they were both awful presidents.

Jim DeLong writes:

Given the choices at hand I wonder why it is that so many oppose someone who: started a business which developed into one of the best in the country, has been happily married to the same women for a number of years, took on a fiasco in Salt Lake and successfully saved the olympics, believes in god and contributes genrously, is bright, and has been a govenor and managed one of the more populated states in the country. Some go so far as saying let President Obama win and appoint judges as he sees fit since we will never loose the house and will win the Senate anyway??? Any way it's not important that President Obama was a lack-luster state legislator with his most significant vote being "present", was a "genuine" neighborhood organizer, had a number of dubious associations, served in the United States Senate but was running for president for four of the six years, as senator was upset about the level of national debt and therefore voted against raising it, and finally to the best of my knowledge accomplished only one thing of note that helped the country: he successfully introduced zero legislation that passed! Come on Republicans lets convene our circular firing squad and begin the beguine.

Hands down, Apple's app store wins by a mile. It's a huge selection of all sorts of apps vs a rather sad selection of a handful for Zune. Microsoft has plans, especially in the realm of games, but I'm not sure I'd want to bet on the future if this aspect is important to you. The iPod is a much better choice in that case.
