“Lincoln wasn’t a great debater.”
— Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper at the Denver office of the Obama campaign on Monday, according to Denver Post reporter Sam Levin.
Nah, those 5 Lincoln-Douglas debates, those were nothing. Yeah, they might have been representative of the main conflict of the time, between slavery and freedom, and they might have taken place at the most crucial crossroad the United States of America ever faced, and they might have decided that the direction was not going to be slavery and that it was going to be freedom, and they might have made Lincoln into the future president of the United States to lead the country through the civil war that resulted from that conflict of two very different visions for America, but hey, Lincoln wasn’t a great debater or anything.
Nice going Hick. We hardly knew ya. We know ya a lot better now.
