Obama in 2008: “We’re going to keep trying a bunch of stuff until something works.”

October 8, 2008:

Since he acknowledges that Roosevelt tried a bunch of stuff that didn’t work, why is he still trying the same stuff that Roosevelt tried? Unless it was his intention to wreck the American economy, the stuff that didn’t work then still doesn’t work now.

The Great Depression stubbornly persisted throughout Roosevelt’s first term (1933-1937) and unemployment ticked up to almost 20% in 1938, after he was re-elected. The Depression didn’t end until World War II started, and the war has been mistakenly credited with ending the Depression. That’s wrong, WW II ended the New Deal, and that allowed the Depression to end. See Depression, War and Cold War by Robert Higgs. The current malaise in America won’t end until Obamanomics ends, and Obamanomics won’t end until Barack Hussein Obama leaves the White House and adult leadership is brought back to America.

That will happen soon.  I don’t think the American people are going to give him four more years to keep “trying a bunch of stuff” that doesn’t work.  At least it doesn’t work for us.  It may be working for him, depending on what his intentions for America might be.
