Right. If you are successful, it’s just that you were lucky. Personal achievement can’t be attributed to doing the right things, working hard, being steady and persistent in your goals, and maybe (probably) failing once or twice, picking yourself up, dusting off and trying again. Nah, it’s Just luck.

It’s good to be lucky but if that’s all it is then we have no control over our destiny. We really have no hope if luck is all we can rely upon. But maybe we’ll be lucky and do well without working, without trying, without sacrificing. How likely is that?

The truth is the harder we work the luckier we are. But Obama wants everyone to believe it’s just luck and so we don’t really deserve what we have because we didn’t earn it. That will make it easier for him to take it away from us. All those smiling faces behind him think that’s cool because they think he’s going to give it to them. All he’ll give them is a life of dependency and bare subsistence.
